Florence in spring: flowers to notice and bring home

Spring changes how Florence looks and feels. Flowering branches, climbing wisteria and the first roses give familiar streets and gardens a different rhythm. In the laboratory, the season also brings changing colours and textures to work with.

Which flowers belong to the spring picture?

Anemones, ranunculus, tulips and freesias are familiar seasonal choices, with availability changing over the weeks. Tulips range from simple cups to fringed and fuller forms; ranunculus offers densely layered petals in soft or vivid colours.

Garden flowering and the cut-flower market are not identical calendars. A flower may be available from growers before it is flowering outdoors in Florence. Equally, a blossom seen in a garden is not necessarily available as a cut stem for your order.

Look beyond a single date

Weather affects flowering, so wisteria and roses do not follow an exact annual appointment. Spring gradually gives way to different displays, rather than changing all at once on the first day of the season.

Florence's Rose Garden, below Piazzale Michelangelo, is associated with the city's rose season and views. If you are planning a visit, check current opening information and conditions rather than relying on a fixed date for peak flowering.

Bring the season into a gift

A seasonal bouquet works particularly well when you are flexible about the exact flower. You can start with a colour palette, the recipient's preferences or the feeling you want: light and delicate, warm and generous, or bright and informal.

Fiorit's online catalogue gives you a starting point. Individual seasonal flowers depend on availability; contact us first if a named variety or precise colour is essential.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request only flowers grown near Florence?

Ask before ordering. Seasonal availability does not itself establish where a flower was grown.

Can I send flowers while I am abroad?

Yes. The delivery destination must be within the served area, and the selected date must be available.
